Why Every Texas Rental Professional Should Be a Part of TAA

Like most things in Texas, the apartment rental industry is big! There are thousands of rental companies managing millions of units and serving tens of millions of renters. Property owners, managers, builders, developers, and suppliers all work together to serve their customers and grow their businesses. Many of these dedicated companies are members of the Texas Apartment Association (TAA), giving their team members access to a vast, organized network of fellow professionals, industry insights, continuing education, and business tools, at the local, state, and national level.

What is the Texas Apartment Association?

The Texas Apartment Association is a non-profit statewide trade association that provides exceptional advocacy, education, and communication for the Texas rental housing industry. The association serves all types of rental professionals, including property owners, builders, developers, property management firms and service providers.

TAA has affiliated apartment associations in 24 Texas cities. TAA’s membership includes 11,500 members engaged in property ownership/management activities at 14,500 individual properties in Texas that comprise 2.7 million rental housing units.

Who Can Join TAA

Membership is company-based and is open to rental housing owners, builders, developers, property management firms and companies that supply products and services to rental properties.

TAA Member Benefits

Joining a local association affiliated with TAA automatically enrolls your company as a member of TAA and the National Apartment Association (NAA), giving you and your team access to resources, continuing education, networking and more. Through membership, you get the benefits of a state and national organization, plus access to additional local member benefits and a community-based network familiar with the industry in your own area. How Can I Join?

While the TAA is a statewide organization, it is truly a localized effort, bringing together 24 local apartment associations. Start by joining the local apartment association in your area and you’ll be automatically enrolled in TAA and NAA. Membership will give you access to all the state and national benefits along with local networking and advocacy.

For example, if you work in Austin, start by enrolling your company in the Austin Apartment Association (AAA). The AAA advocates for safe living conditions, legal transparency, codes and standards, property taxes, and much more. Once you’re enrolled, you’ll have access to committees, peer groups, networking events, professional development, and community outreach programs.
