TAA Education Foundation’s 2024 Room to Grow Ambassadors Take the Stage at the ONE Conference & Expo

The 2024 Room to Grow Ambassadors made their debut at the TAA ONE Conference & Expo, April 24-26, in San Antonio, and they will help us tell the story of career paths in Texas rental housing throughout the year!
Meet the 2024 Be the Next Room to Grow Ambassadors:
- Onsite/Corporate: Makenna Caffey – Greystar – Apartment Association of Central Texas
- Maintenance: Jacobo Racine – Camden Property Trust – Houston Apartment Association
- Supplier Partners: Mallory Hess – Century AC Supply – Houston Apartment Association
The TAA Education Foundation (TAAEF) is dedicated to providing educational programs that foster awareness of careers within the apartment industry. TAAEF’s Room to Grow initiative reaches job seekers to bring awareness to careers in the Texas rental housing industry. The Room to Grow website is designed to move candidates more quickly from awareness to application. Ambassadors are featured, reflecting unique and compelling success stories geared toward key audiences like recent high school graduates, community college students, military service members and their families. Other features include job seeker blogs to find the job, get the job, and on the job, and resources include a resume uploader tool, job offer analyzer, a “Find Your Fit” quiz, and direct links to partner trainings and a statewide job board where prospects can view and apply for open positions.
TAA Education Foundation hosts an annual video challenge, Be the Next Room to Grow Ambassador, inviting newcomers to the industry with five years or less of experience in multifamily to share their experiences. After all, who better to tell the story of coming into the industry than someone who is new to it. This year, we wanted not just one Ambassador but three to help spread the word about rewarding careers and advancement opportunities that rental housing offers.
Each year, the process to submit for the challenge is easy – newcomers simply record a video in under three minutes sharing who they are and what they love about their jobs. To speak to different positions, representatives from onsite/corporate teams, maintenance, and supplier partners were invited to submit videos who could help tell the story of how they found themselves in their role and to share their personal experiences.
The Be the Next Room to Grow Ambassador mission is to create a connection through personal stories with job seekers that are outside of rental housing so they may understand the numerous opportunities that allow each person to tap into their passion and find the career pathway that is right for them. Each one of us is unique with our own skill sets and goals, but this industry truly offers something for everyone to discover and fulfill their professional purpose.
