TAA friends, I am now 100 days into serving as your 2025 President. One thing has resonated crystal clear in those 100 days: Success is only realized for TAA when we are working together and forging connections.
In our ever-evolving industry landscape, building strong connections within TAA has never been more crucial. As members of this vibrant community, we are reminded that our strength lies not only in our individual efforts but also in the power of our collective relationships. By fostering meaningful connections, we can elevate our industry, support one another and create lasting positive impacts.
TAA facilitates strong connections in many ways. Several of the best opportunities for collaboration are things you can plan for today:
1. Professional Growth and Development
One of the most significant benefits of association connections is the opportunity for professional growth and development. TAA’s ONE Conference, May 7-9 in Houston, is one of the best chances you’ll have to see your peers in person.
At this can’t-miss industry event, our members can engage in knowledge-sharing, experience the new Executive Edge (see below for details), attend roughly 70 education sessions and learn about the latest industry products and services in our ONE Expo Marketplace.
These in-person interactions enable us to stay ahead of industry trends, gain new skills and expand our expertise, ultimately enhancing our professional journeys. It’s not too late to register your teams to join us!
2. Collaboration and Innovation
Association connections facilitate collaboration and innovation by bringing together diverse perspectives and experiences. This year at the TAA ONE Conference, we are rolling out the Executive Edge program. This exclusive session is designed to equip you with the latest insights and skills to elevate your leadership game. By networking with peers, suppliers and industry leaders, we can exchange ideas, explore new solutions and collaborate on projects that drive the industry forward. This spirit of cooperation not only fosters innovation but also helps us address common challenges and seize new opportunities.

Beyond the ONE Conference, TAA is facilitating connections and leadership innovation through our new Mentorship Pilot Program.
Currently in a test phase, TAA has about 20 sets of leaders who are exploring a new framework for leadership development focused both on industry issues and association governance opportunities. We’re hoping to fine-tune the process, explore how well the AI matching technology works and refine opportunities that we can roll out to members across the state in 2026.
Watch TAA’s member communications or contact communications@taa.org for more information.
3. Advocacy and Representation
As a united association, we have a stronger voice in advocating for the interests of the apartment industry. In February our members showed up big during Day At the Capital. Across the state we had more than 250 members attend representing 14 local affiliates, and they conducted a total of 146 office meetings with their respective legislators. These meetings set the stage for the good work that TAA is focused on this session.
By connecting with fellow members, we can collectively engage in advocacy efforts, influence policy decisions and represent our industry’s concerns at local, state and national levels. These connections empower us to make a difference and ensure that our voices are heard.
4. Building a Supportive Community
TAA is more than just a professional association; it is a supportive community that values relationships and camaraderie. By connecting with others, we build a network of trusted colleagues and friends who can offer guidance, support and encouragement.
This year at the TAA ONE Conference, attendees will have more time to do just that, have some fun and connect and build those association connections further. There is intentional time for meetups with groups including IROs, local association executives, and senior leaders of owner/management companies. And start now on your Planet Pop costume for the ultimate networking event, the Planet Pop Party. The opportunities are vast to grow connections, create a sense of belonging and strengthen our community bonds.
5. Giving Back to the Community
As TAA members, we have the privilege and responsibility to give back to our communities. By participating in association-led community service projects and initiatives, we can make a positive impact on the lives of others. These activities not only strengthen our connections within the association but also demonstrate our commitment to making a difference beyond the apartment industry.
The power of association connections cannot be overstated. As we come together, TAA members unlock a wealth of opportunities for growth, collaboration, advocacy, support and community impact. Let us continue to nurture and expand these connections, for it is through our united efforts that we can build a stronger, more resilient industry and community.
Stay connected, stay engaged and let the power of association connections propel us towards a brighter future!
